It’s always easy to write about your favourite products, and with the Adizero Prime X Strung that is certainly no different.
Being an avid runner who tries to run upwards of 120km per week I was desperately trying to find a shoe that could protect my legs from long hard training runs, whilst being propulsive enough to efficiently achieve my goal paces. This search began 4 months ago, and I managed to stumble across the first iteration of the Adizero Prime X, and I loved it.
Now, fast forward 4 months from those initial runs, I’ve done 450km in the Prime X, and now 150 in the Prime X Strung- and I can confidently say that the Prime X Strung is my favourite training shoe for tempo/ threshold pace runs- without question.
Adidas have done an extraordinary job in ensuring the unique ride of the original Prime X has remained untouched, whilst merging this midsole technology with an industry leading upper that makes me so excited to slip this shoe on for every run.
This new upper has been intricately designed to help stabilise the ride on top of the 50mm stack, and I can say that it has worked exceptionally well in my case. I can feel the threaded upper cocoon my foot well, to the extent that I’ve confidently taken this shoe on light, windy trails doing 1km reps at 3.10/km, and also on a track for some post-session 200s at 2.30/km. This shoe really comes to life when trying to run at goal 10km pace- marathon pace, and the efficiency that this shoe brings to these longer runs feel effortless on the lower legs, whilst still achieving the desired aerobic benefits.
The Strung upper has elevated the Prime X from possibly the greatest shoe on the market for longer training/tempo runs, to definitely the best on the market; now that stability is no-longer a part of the conversation. The comfort and confidence that this intricately designed upper brings to the threshold shoe market is certainly unmatched in late 2022.
