Its upper is based off the Nike Mayfly, a shoe created in 2003 that was designed purely as a race day style that lasted the wearer for 100km before their life ended, much like the actual mayfly that typically is born and then dies all within 24 hours.
Other than the commemorative upper, the tech is the same as the rest of the Premium line.
The triple-layered midsole jams three of Nike's best technologies into a 45mm stack height. Sandwiched between two pieces of foam – ZoomX and ReactX respectively – is a full-length Zoom Air chamber.
A first for Nike's running category, this combination makes the Pegasus Premium surprisingly sprightly given its relative weight. All of that Air and foam does give you plenty of cushioning, helping this Pegasus really live-up to the Premium nameplate, with a lush on-road feeling.
